Role Summary The Line Maintenance & Daily Planner Router plans and administers aircraft equipment changes to maintain operational performance. This role is key to minimizing aircraft downtime and maximizing schedule reliability through the thoughtful planning of system-wide aircraft maintenance in response to changes in aircraft routing.

Scope & Complexity

  • This position supports maintenance planning activities for Alaska Air Group (AAG) and its subsidiaries.

Key Duties

  • Minimizes aircraft downtime and maximizes schedule reliability by planning system-wide aircraft maintenance in response to changes in aircraft routing.

  • Analyzes aircraft change requests.

  • Plans ground time for extended maintenance actions.

  • Coordinates maintenance with operational groups in response to routing, scheduling, and maintenance planning issues.

  • Administers aircraft equipment changes to maintain operational performance for mechanical issues, crewing, weather, flight delays, flight cancels, and other special considerations.

  • Strictly monitors all aspects of aircraft maintenance such as: MELs, A-checks, service checks, inspections, engine changes, deferred maintenance items, time-controlled unit changes, Engineering Orders, Airworthiness Directives/Bulletins, Fleet Campaign directives, and the repair/correction of items affecting the airworthiness of aircraft in response to changes in aircraft routing.

  • Leads daily planning teleconferences and coordinates with Aircraft Routing, Maintenance Control, the Materials/AOG desk, Line Managers, and Inspection for optimum nightly maintenance performance.

  • Ensures parts and material are scheduled/routed to the job site to support the planned workload

  • Analyzes flight schedule, aircraft utilization, and maintenance requirements to allocate manpower and optimize reliability.

  • Coordinates aircraft routing requests with SOC-DSO/PSM, Flight Training, Charter Planning, Crew Scheduling, Maintenance Control, Customer Services, and Maintenance Planning.

  • Plans and schedules all applicable checks for aircraft the RON in maintenance stations each night.

  • Plans and schedules man-hour workloads and facility requirements in addition to MELs, Inspections/checks, time-controlled unit changes, deferred maintenance items, Engineering Orders, Airworthiness Directives/Bulletins, and repair/correction of items affecting the airworthiness of aircraft in response to changes in aircraft routing.

  • Prepares work packages for overnight maintenance as required by aircraft routing changes.

  • Evaluates requests for scheduled maintenance and assists line maintenance supervision by setting priorities for planned maintenance.

  • Completes special projects as assigned by the Manager, Line Maintenance Planning.

Job-Specific Skills

  • Required

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in airline operations or 3 years of analyst experience.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate accurately.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills.

  • Able to make sound analytical decisions in a high stress, real-time, deadline-driven environment.

  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and adaptability as a team player.

  • Able and willing to work weekends, holidays, and non-standard shifts.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Preferred

  • 3 years of related maintenance planning experience.

  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures and FAA regulations.

  • Strong computer applications experience with TRAX, Visops, or Gatesheet.
