Role Summary Alaska Airlines is seeking a very senior and extremely talented product manager to be responsible for the Virgin America e-commerce business. The successful candidate will partner closely with their counterparts from around the company to ensure the health of the business while planning and executing e-commerce integration with Alaska Airlines. Qualified candidates will have experience making product investment decisions, guiding user experience, partnering with technology teams, and monitoring and forecasting commercial performance.
Run the Business
Monitor the health of the e-commerce business and lead investments to improve performance.
Forecast key commercial metrics including transactions, conversion, and guest satisfaction.
Prioritize backlog for and oversee implementation of day-to-day site placements, merchandising and landing pages.
Communicate development progress and commercial results to stakeholders and executive leadership.
Manage commercial relationships with 3rd party partners involved in the e-commerce ecosystem (white label, metasearch, ancillary products).
Defining the Product Road Map
Represent the Virgin America e-commerce platform in integration planning with Alaska's offerings.
Lead the effort to capture value from Virgin America's e-commerce offerings and build a roadmap to ensure it is preserved in the integrated e-commerce platform.
Craft product roadmaps based on data, including transactional data, usage statistics, primary customer research, and industry analyst reports.
Sell your vision and road map to key stakeholders throughout the company, including senior executives.
Stay current with online travel, e-commerce and relevant technology and industry trends.
Guiding the Product through Delivery
Lead the execution of roadmaps in partnership with both in-house and external technology and user experience design teams.
Clearly communicate investment priorities and personally make key tradeoff decisions when required, smartly using data when it exists and solid judgement when it doesn't.
Engage in constructive debate with - and deliver tough messages when needed to - key stakeholders (including senior executives) while maintaining professional and productive relationships.
Job-Specific Skills (years of experience, key knowledge, skills & abilities)
A minimum of 5 years of senior product management experience with significant financial responsibility for a high-volume, transactional business.
A minimum of 7 years working directly with web and mobile e-commerce businesses exceeding $10MM in revenue per year.
Fluent in agile product development concepts.
Expert in using customer research, web analytics, financial and other data to prioritize plans.
Strong familiarity with underlying e-commerce technologies with proven ability to partner with software engineering teams on investment and planning decisions.
Willingness to travel routinely to Virgin America headquarters in Burlingame, CA (SFO).
Significant experience working on large CONSUMER e-commerce businesses.
Knowledge of the airline and/or travel industries and related technologies.
Experience negotiating and/or managing vendors where spend exceeds $100K/year.

A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in business, computer science or related field is required.
A Master's degree or Master of Business Administration is preferred.
