POSITION INFORMATION

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide 24/7 Flight Simulator Training device (FSTD) engineering coverage and support to resolve complex FSTD discrepancies through troubleshooting, and repair utilizing fault finding techniques.

  • Support the FSTDs, allowing Alaska Airlines to meet its current and future training objectives

  • Conduct regulatory compliance testing and preventative maintenance procedures

  • Provide training and technical assistance to other technician personnel

  • Assist Senior Engineers with FSTD modifications to meet current training needs, enhancing FTSD capability & reliability

  • Ensure the FSTDs are configured to reflect the ASA fleet

  • Establish simulator process improvements that reduce training interruptions, discrepancies and down time.

  • Be able to fly an aircraft simulator (FSTD)

  • Support preventative maintenance procedures updates on the FSTDs

  • Utilize existing computer-based tools and utilities to improve FSTD maintainability & availability of the FSTDs to overcome obsolescence maintenance issues or updates

  • Support pre-flights and other testing of the FSTDs

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6 years industry experience in additional to 6 years solid background in simulator engineering required.

  • A BS Degree in any engineering discipline is preferred

  • Electronic Engineering; understand complex linear and digital circuits based on electronic principles required

  • Aeronautical knowledge; understanding of complex Qualification Test Guide issues (QTG) required

  • Avionics Engineering; understanding of simulator concepts based on avionics interfacing preferred

  • Pilot skills; understanding of aircraft procedures, aircraft systems, flight principles, and aircraft/ simulator handling characteristics required

  • Hydraulic/Mechanical Engineering; understanding of closed loop control and motion systems and mechanical principles preferred

  • Computer Generated Imagery & Visual Effects; ability to construct or modify advanced computer generated models & have working knowledge of visual image generators and visual display systems preferred

  • Computer Engineering; have hardware / software knowledge across multiple platforms in addition to thorough understanding of computer / simulator software operating systems and languages required

  • Understanding of the compliance obligations of Part 60 based on the Quality Management System in place (QMS) required

  • Understanding of vendor drawings, including wiring diagrams, system diagrams and complex aircraft data required

  • Detailed understanding of FSTD software utilities preferred

  • Minimum age of 18 required

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
