The Technician Helper is responsible for assisting Technicians at Alaska Airlines (AS). As a member of the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division, this individual contributor role performs miscellaneous unskilled and/or supervised duties in and around aircraft, shops, hangars, and buildings. This is a union represented position.
Wash, paint strip, clean and/or polish of the interior or exterior of an aircraft, aircraft parts, engine or engine parts, ramp, shop and hangar equipment.
Operate and service the equipment used in the performance of work.
Operate ground service equipment and forklift to maneuver equipment and supplies.
Assist Technicians in the towing, parking and marshaling of aircraft.
Complete the work assigned by the maintenance supervisor or aircraft lead technician in a safe and expeditious manner, exercising good, sound judgment in executing each work project and adhering to Company policies and procedures.
Perform miscellaneous unskilled duties in and about shops, hangars and buildings.
Ensure that a clean, safe, and orderly work area is maintained at all times.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to be trained and successful in towing aircraft.
Ability to consistently lift 70 lbs.
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp.
Be adaptable to performing work according to set procedures.
Must be organized and be able to work independently or in a team environment.
Must have a valid and operable driver’s license.
Flexible to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to communicate in English.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- 2 years of aviation experience.
