The Accounts Payable Administrator is responsible for and interacts with Alaska Air Group’s (AAG) various operating divisions and vendors to provide payment processing support and issue resolution, while ensuring compliance with company polices and controls. The Accounts Payable Administrator as a member of the Accounts Payable team, this individual contributor role works on routine to moderately complex accounts payable activities in support of Alaska Air Group (AAG).
Manages vendor master
Create, update vendor records
New vendor banking verification as received through vendor portal
Updates vendor term changes
Audits vendor change requests submitted by accounting specialists
Performs IRS TIN audit for 1099 vendors
Supports management team as needed by: Analyzing problems and recommends solutions by applying knowledge of contracts and state/federal laws.
Conducts ad-hoc analyses and reporting.
Identifies and contributes to process improvement projects.
Accounts for and audits company credit card (P-Card), expense reporting and other hosted/interfaced applications to ensure accurate processing and maintenance of controls.
Partners closely with other departments to ensure correct billing rates (ports/leases).
Reconciles accounts, records journal entries, and provides additional analysis as needed.
Supports leadership team with monthly productivity analysis and review processes.
Serves as backup when needed.
Supports accounting specialists with questions and training issues.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
2 years of experience with complex accounting and financial systems.
Experience with various supplier contracts and application of appropriate rates and terms to determine correct payments.
Knowledge of application of multi-state sales and use tax rules for proper compliance.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
Ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in accounting or a related discipline.
