YOUR ROLE

Role Summary

The Commercial Analytics Analyst contributes to solutions for revenue, strategy, data, and analytics problems at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. This role works on exciting projects that push the business forward by creating reports using big data and analytics.

Scope & Complexity

As an individual contributor the Commercial Analytics Analyst focuses on moderately complex data analytics projects.

Key Duties

  • With limited direction from the Manager Commercial Analytics, define and develop KPIs, forecasts, and metrics to guide the business's strategic initiatives.

  • Communicate findings and provide input to stakeholders in a concise and effective manner.

  • Design and create tools, processes, and analyses that assist the team and stakeholders in executing and measuring strategies on a recurring and ad-hoc basis.

  • Apply technical knowledge to manipulate moderately complex and/or large datasets to draw key findings.

  • Provide recommendations and assist in implementing improvements to processes and reports.

  • Foster strong, collaborative working relationships across various business, operational, and technical workgroups.

Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, math, economics, engineering or other fields of a technical nature, or two years of training/experience in data analytics in lieu of this degree.

  • Experience using software or tools on large sets of data to model and analyze complex problems.

  • Understanding of data types and manipulation of data sets.

  • Outstanding communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) and presentation skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and utilizing PowerPoint to present complex ideas to non-technical audiences.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

  • 1 year of airline industry experience.

  • Tableau (or other similar data visualization software) experience.

  • Experience with Alteryx.

  • SQL experience, programming experience, or other experience manipulating large data sets.
