The Commercial Strategy Researcher is responsible for developing insights and solutions for commercial strategy research and revenue product design at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role makes recommendations to inform leveraged commercial strategy decisions.
Takes initiative to develop insights and solutions for commercial strategy research and revenue product design.
With limited direction from supervisor, works independently to perform projects relating to design, modeling, consumer insights, and optimization to inform long-term commercial strategy.
Makes regular recommendations to improve product design and commercial strategy.
Formulates ways to improve team best practices for strategy research.
Applies cutting-edge research methods to identify opportunities and recommends methods to realize them.
Determines an effective approach for communicating insights and findings to a wide variety of commercial stakeholders.
Represents the department at meetings and in communications, adhering to the highest standards of precision, accuracy, and integrity.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

2 years of experience in business analytics, consumer insights, economics, mathematics or related area.
Bachelor's degree with a focus in economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or related discipline, or an additional 2 years of relevant training/experience in a related role in lieu of this degree.
Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with other teams, valuing diversity and inclusivity
Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Intermediate working knowledge of statistics, machine learning, optimization, consumer insights, and/or demand modeling
Strong understanding of revenue products, as well as product merchandising and optimization strategies.
Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development
Proven track record of applying insights to business strategy
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company
Intermediate skills in presenting data-driven strategic insights, including use of visualization tools (Tableau)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and relational databases and large datasets (SQL, R, python, Alteryx).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Graduate degree with a focus in economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or related discipline.
1 year of experience in the airline industry
