The Distribution Program Director is the sole subject matter expert and thought leader to deliver innovation within our distribution partners. As an individual contributor, this role designs and implements innovative solutions to optimize the external distribution landscape, makes decisions that have substantial financial impact, and drives a significant area of revenue for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
As the sole subject matter expert, determine and establish current and future distribution strategies to optimize vision for third-party distribution
Develop and implement long-term airline distribution strategy via multiple sales channels
Develop commercial strategies associated with global distribution systems (GDS), online travel agencies (OTA), meta search engines.
Lead the development of industry distribution capabilities and platforms such as NDC.
Work across the commercial leadership team (revenue management, marketing, merchandising) to define and to deliver the distribution strategy within the broader commercial strategy.
Design and implement innovative solutions to support complex strategies, initiatives, tactics, and plans for optimal revenue through third-party distribution ticket sales
Establish regular reporting of distribution across sales channel and overall cost of sale performance for all Alaska Airlines channels.
Introduce, develop and enhance specific distribution technology across all indirect channels.
Synthesize complex processes and modeling into concise senior level ready story lines, decks, roadmaps and action plans.
Build and deepen relationships with third-party distributors and lead negotiations for commercial agreements.
Guide and mentor team of Distribution Specialists.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Extensive working knowledge of airline distribution landscape, including strategies, programs, processes, and technology infrastructure, gained through at least 10 years of experience in Distribution, Sales, or Revenue Management
Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree
Basic working knowledge of GDS functionality
Demonstrated ability to understand the competition and what it takes to be a leader in this space
Strong knowledge of understanding and applying disruptive behaviors for consistent delivery, experience and profitability
Experience with vendor management, leading contract negotiations for distribution-related vendors
Experience and demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with commercial and technical teams
Superior quantitative/analytical and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under aggressive deadlines with minimal supervision, including complex multi-divisional stakeholder initiatives.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and able to make clear and concise presentations to senior management and external organizations.
Highly proficient PC skills including advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
