The Commercial Analytics Analyst II - Research and Development develops solutions to modeling and forecasting problems at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. This role works on exciting projects that push the business forward, creates reporting and analysis, and maintains existing processes.
Scope & Complexity
As an individual contributor the Commercial Analytics Analyst II - Research and Development works on moderately complex to complex data analysis problems. This role with a limited level of supervision runs projects that enable the analytics team to create driven solutions to business problems.
Support development of models and forecasts (for example, the company's revenue forecast or customer segmentation model).
Responsible for continuously improving forecasts, models, and measurement methods in strategic and planning processes.
With limited direction from the Manager, Commercial Analytics, define and develop KPIs, forecasts, and metrics to guide the business's strategic initiatives.
Design and create tools, processes, and analyses that assist the team and stakeholders in executing and measuring strategies on a recurring and ad-hoc basis.
Apply data analytics methodologies to manipulate a variety of large and moderately complex to complex datasets to draw key findings.
Make recommendations based on trends and findings to stakeholders in a concise and effective manner.
Maintain knowledge of all available data sources used in forecasting, modeling, and measurement of company initiatives (e-Commerce, customer, flight, etc.).
Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education
A minimum of 2 years of experience in modeling, statistics, or optimization techniques, including the use of said techniques with very large quantities of data to solve real-world business problems.
Bachelor's degree in business, math, economics, engineering or other fields of a technical nature, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Experience using software or tools on large sets of data to model and analyze complex problems.
SQL experience manipulating large data sets.
Experience with open-ended and leveraged technical projects with hard deadlines.
Outstanding communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) and presentation skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and utilizing PowerPoint to present complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
A minimum of 1 year of airline industry experience.
Experience in airline revenue management, pricing, customer analytics, and/or demand modeling
Tableau (or other similar data visualization software) experience.
Experience with Alteryx.
