The Sr Product Manager is the subject matter expert in product vision for assigned feature area. This role will collaborate with key stakeholders, designers, and engineers to design, implement, test and refine functionality for assigned ramp and baggage portfolio. Additionally, this role will identify, coordinate, and optimize prioritization of enhancements and changes to assigned ramp and baggage products to deliver outcomes aligned with our strategy.The Sr Product Manager acts as a mentor to teammates and provides thought leadership for Alaska Airlines.
As a subject matter expert for product vision, this role leads the product guild and manages the entire product line life cycle within a cross functional organization, from strategic planning to tactical activities and execution
Defines creative, high quality, simple product roadmaps to advise key stakeholders throughout the company, including senior executives.
Manages the identification of business opportunities which can be met through the development of digital solutions.
Make decisions and maintains a value-based prioritized backlog of opportunities for products which align to Alaska’s business strategy and goals. Exercise considerable judgment to make key tradeoff decisions.
Develops business cases and economic models backed by data. Use product discovery techniques to move from idea to prototype.
Utilizes data, including transactional data, usage statistics, primary guest research, and industry analyst reports to inform prioritization and solutions.
Maintains awareness of third-party capabilities that provide viable product solutions. Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships.
Partners with Design, Engineering, and Scrum Masters to work within a product team to deliver the product backlog.
Deliver results for key product metrics and goals that supports business objectives.
Assist the product, engineering, and scrum team during regular ceremonies: feature review, grooming, sprint plans and demos by being the voice of the customer and communicating the value behind each product and prioritization decision.
Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders across the organization to communicate status, align priorities, and ensure operational support for go to market plans.
Engages in constructive conversations with - and deliver tough messages when needed - to key stakeholders, including senior executives, while continually building professional and productive relationships.
Stays current with industry trends as well as competitors’ digital capabilities.
Develops user stories granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint, elaboration of Epics and Features, creating and maintaining the product backlog, supporting user and application testing and coordinating release activities.
Coordinates new and changed functionality with affected business groups to ensure seamless rollout of new capabilities.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
4 years of experience in a product management role, or equivalent work experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Product Management, Marketing, Business, Digital Platforms, or a related field; or an additional 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of this degree.
Experience working directly with web and mobile e-commerce businesses.
Strong familiarity with underlying e-commerce technologies with proven ability to partner with software engineering teams on investment and planning decisions.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, coupled with a history of building strong cross-functional relationships.
Proven record managing digital products in a complex technical environment.
Minimum age of 18.
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Knowledge of the airline and/or travel industries and related technologies.
Deep working knowledge of agile product development concepts.
