YOUR ROLE

Role Summary

The Training Content Developer creates engaging Instructor led and eLearning courses aligned to the learning objectives using competencies and critical behaviors of multiple front-line workgroups.

Scope & Complexity

This individual contributor role supports training content development for Airport Operations at Alaska Airlines (AS).

Key Duties

  • Develops engaging training products for multiple front-line workgroups.

  • Interprets and implements learning objectives that train to competencies and critical behaviors.

  • Interprets needs analyses to understand user goals and objectives and identify appropriate content deliverables for assigned projects.

  • Writes and revise content deliverables (e.g., online course materials, job aides, classroom materials) per approved content plans, ensuring content deliverables adhere to established standards.

  • Collaborates design specifications, storyboards, and simulations.

  • Coordinates informal and formal reviews with subject matter experts and other applicable team members.

  • Provides peer edits for other developers, editing for content, style, copyediting, and proofreading accuracy.

  • Reviews work for adherence to established standards for mechanics, organization, logic, presentation, completeness, and consistency.

  • Regularly reports on project status and recognizes potential problems and promptly report issues to manager.

  • Responds to requests for content updates based on identified defects, product enhancements, root cause analysis findings, etc. to help ensure delivery of high quality products to our customers.

  • Researches new technologies to assist in the continued improvement of content development processes and standards, recommending changes required to match or surpass e-learning industry standards.

  • Utilizes the learning management system (LMS) to upload, test, create and edit course trees, archive courses as needed, and create and attach surveys and communicates with LMS administrator to ensure adherence to best practices.

  • Manages moderately complex projects, including timelines, development of content, scripts, stakeholders, video recording, and audio.

  • Evaluates and assesses effectiveness of training, and ensures design and content meet style guides and graphic standards.

  • Mentors and influences professional development of Training Content Developer I.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Skills & Education

Required

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience developing eLearning modules and writing instructor led lesson plans incorporating adult learning principles.

  • Experience with advanced eLearning authoring tools.

  • Advanced experience with image/graphic creation and manipulation.

  • Thorough understanding of learning modalities and learning styles.

  • Possesses excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain and adhere to project and individual schedules with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to quickly analyze the impact of development changes on a content development project and adjust workload appropriately.

  • Ability to act as a consultant regarding Content Development methodology, standards and practices.

  • Ability to create compelling visual designs for training taking into consideration usability and attractiveness.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook).

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Ability to create simulations, gamification, audio and video production.

  • A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in instructional design, graphic design, education, communications, or a related discipline.

  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and web design.

  • Spanish fluency.

  • Knowledge of instructional best practice and strong presentation skills.
