Real projects that make an impact
Interns at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air are embedded within their teams and work on visible projects that impact our guests and the business.
Beyond projects, you might rub elbows with our CEO, tour our facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest, or ride along on a cargo delivery flight between towns in Southeast Alaska.
Meet our interns
I’ve really enjoyed the people I’ve worked with and that’s a huge part of coming to work for me. What brings me to work is the people and feeling supported. Overall, it’s just been a great experience learning. There’s so much that goes into one flight that takes off, and you don’t really realize that until you’re here. That’s been the coolest thing; every day I learn something new.

During the internship, weekends consisted of spontaneous trips with fellow interns to incredible destinations such as San Francisco, Kona, Oahu, Chicago, Juneau, Las Vegas, and New York to name a few. The travel is what brought me to Alaska Airlines and the people are what have kept me here. During those twelve weeks, I gained valuable friends and mentors that valued my input and encouraged me to take ownership of my work, whether I was leading employee relations cases or drafting job descriptions. I am grateful to work for a company whose values align with my own and I owe a huge part of that to this internship program.

I came into the role I was assigned with a lot left to learn and my team helped with that goal every step of the way. From learning hard technical skills in development, to picking up engineering workspace etiquette, it was nice to be surrounded by a group of individuals who were welcoming and comfortable spending time to mentor interns. Alaska genuinely felt like a company that appreciates interns for the things they are able to produce and trusts them with the responsibilities of a full-time employee. Not once did I feel like I was any lower than the developers around me and my voice was always heard. Being in this type of environment builds an immense amount of confidence to make decisions and proposals that can move the company forward. Overall, I look back and credit a lot of the insight and personal growth I’ve gained over the past year to my 12 weeks with Alaska this summer.
